Burlesque bar

Last weekend my sister Charlie came to visit us,  I  hadn’t seen her for a while so planned a really great weekend with her, one of those things to do was to check out The Burlesque Bar in Fitzroy, and lets just say we were up for a big night and we weren’t disappointed.

The Burlesque bar was amazing, the performers were beautiful and classy, the venue was cosy and intimate with a really fun and friendly atmosphere.  The host of the night was incredibly charming and she had a way of bringing the audience together and it felt like we were all friends, having a laugh and a drink, in our case many drinks.

So if you haven’t yet been here you should really check it out, hands down one of the best places in Melbourne I have been to and I can guarantee you will have a blast.

Check out the site to find out what shows they have on, you can also purchase tix from there as well, I highly recommend booking so you’re not disappointed.

The Burlesque bar is located at 42 Johnston Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065 (03) 9415 8088.

Fashion is art, art is fashion

Some people are quite creative in how they choose to dress there bodies each day,  I believe what you wear is an expression of oneself and how you would like the world to perceive you.

Fashion in some sense is another form of art, especially in the case of these artist who have turned there amazing work into wearable art.

Mark Ryden collaborated with  Japanese artist, director, designer the late Nagi Noda on the fashion label called the “Broken Label”she passed in 2008 apparently wearing a Mark Ryden dress, Chanel boots, and Viktor and Rolf black lace eyelashes.

Miss Van another one of my fav artisits who started out on the streets of Paris, has also worked on a fashion line, it’s main focus is on tees but she also has some leggings and the most amazing accessories, if only I could afford them all. You can purchase her clothing and art from Princesas Market.

Japanese artisit Usugrow, who is heavily influened by graffiti, skate, punk rock and hip-hop, and has been know for his amazing band posters has released a line of Shinganist tees with Upper Playground. you can purchase his wicked tees for men and women here.

Mark Ryden

Anybody that knows me knows that I absolutely love Mark Ryden, he is one of my fav artists, his paintings are amazing.  I guess he would fall under the categorie Lowbrow or pop surrealism, his subject matter focuses on these beautiful, innocent, but kind of weird looking children with big piercing eyes (predominantly female) add in some teddys, toys,  Abraham lincoln, some meat and jesus and you have Mark Ryden.  My favourite painting of his is “The rose” which I have tattooed on my back.

For those of you who don’t know who he is you should really check out his website here.   If you live in Australia you can purchase prints from Outre Gallery.  Here is a pic from the study Adrian bought me for christmas from Outre, best chrissy prezzie ever!

He also has lots of books and you can pretty much pick them up from any really good book shop.
